The First
International Congress on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources in Construction and Industry was organised by Via Expo in April 2005 in Bulgaria under the auspices of the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Ministry of Energy and Energy Resources, Ministry of Environment and Waters, Energy Efficiency Agency, The UNEP / SEFI Sustainable Energy Finance Initiative and Dr. Hermann Scheer, General Chairman, World Council for Renewable Energy.

The Congress in 2006
will contribute to the promotion of sustainable energy systems and equipment for accelerating their market penetration, stimulating investments to facilitate the transition from the demonstration to the marketing of more efficient technologies.

Who should attend
Key players from the private and public sectors at regional and international level, including representatives of European institutions, project developers, property managers, energy experts, investors, ESCO management and potential ESCO developers, financial institutions, installation and construction companies, equipment vendors, policy makers, municipalities representatives, agricultural sector, academics, consultants, etc.



		The international research projects are most welcome to schedule their regular meetings at EE & RES Congress. The organizers will be more than happy to help their arrangements.

The Congress objectives are to promote the European experience for Retrofitting of existing houses, to encourage more finance sources from Europe and worldwide as well as the private initiatives in the field of EE & RES in order to make better the investment climate in SE Europe; to attract more investments and venture capital companies in the Region of SE Europe and CIS; to find the best financing mechanisms.

Expected great positive impact on:

•	The internal energy markets (system of renewable energy credits, fiscal harmonization, state aid, standardization);

•	Regional policy favoring the promotion of renewable sources of energy, particularly in peripheral and rural areas;

•	Compatible agricultural policy promoting the production and development of sustainable sources of energy;

•	The exploitation of renewable energy potential for the economic development of SE European countries and CIS.

The organizers expect more than 500 attendees to participate at the Congress and the parallel events As the lack of both awareness and information for consumers and investors remains one of the major barriers, the forthcoming Congress will support project developers, facilitate dissemination of the information regarding EE and renewable energy generation potentials and help the co-operation with all stakeholders in this field.

THE VENUE
The National Palace of Culture (NDK) is one of the biggest and distinguished congress centers in Europe. It is located in the very center of Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria. Participants at EE & RES Congress 2005 will benefit from the high quality and spacious meeting facilities and on site business center.
